The economy has hit the annual college football conference Media Days and Media Guides hard. For decades the football conferences have gotten together for a few Media Days, usually in July to discuss the up-coming season and players. Media Guides have been a staple of the press box and a recruiting tool for as long as one can remember. Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin have eliminated Media Guides for 2009-2010 as a cost saving for their budgets. The PAC-10 wants to eliminate them altogether.
Conference USA and the Sun Belt Conference are going to video conferences this year and the Ohio Valley Conference is evaluating this option at present. Many of the smaller conferences and schools are taking a very long look at the cost of Media Days and Media Guides to possibly saving money in their budgets.
Following is the schedule for the remaining Preseason Media Days for 2009.
